The National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[1]. The National Assembly for Wales has been designated[2] for the purposes of that section in relation to measures relating to food (including drink) including the primary production of food. There has been open and transparent public consultation during the preparation of the Regulations as required by Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety[3]. Title, commencement and application 1.These Regulations—
(b) come into force on 27 October 2006; and (c) apply in relation to Wales. Revocations
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations, which apply in relation to Wales, provide for the revocation of specified instruments which implemented Commission Decisions imposing conditions on the import of specific products that could be contaminated with excessive levels of aflatoxins. A full regulatory appraisal has been prepared for these Regulations and has been placed in the Library of the National Assembly for Wales along with a copy of the transposition note relating to these Regulations.
