In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 537A(1), (2) and (4) and 569(4) and (5) of the Education Act 1996[1] and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales[2], the National Assembly for Wales hereby make the following Regulations: Title and commencement 1.The title of these Regulations is the Education (Information About Individual Pupils) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and they come into force on 11 January 2006. Amendment of Regulations 2.—(1) The Education (Information About Individual Pupils) (Wales) Regulations 2003[3] are amended as follows. (2) In regulation 2, in the appropriate place in alphabetical order insert the following new definitions—
(3) In regulation 2, for the definition of "sixth form pupil" substitute—
(4) In Part 1 of the Schedule, in paragraph 5, omit "and, if so, with whom". (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations make minor amendments to the Education (Information About Individual Pupils) (Wales) Regulations 2003 ("the 2003 Regulations") by—
(b) slightly altering the wording of paragraph 5 of Part 1 of the Schedule to the 2003 Regulations so that the governing body of a school will no longer be required to specify with whom a pupil speaks Welsh at home; (c) altering the wording of paragraph 1 of Part 2 of that Schedule so that information which the governing body may be required to provide about sixth form pupils can include information about pupils who have left the school during the course of the school year; and (d) slightly altering the wording of paragraph 21(c) of that Part so that the information which may be required about pupils' basic skills needs for literacy and numeracy will now include pupils' needs at the end, as well as at the beginning, of their learning activities programme.
