Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(1) of the Consular Fees Act 1980[1] is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is ordered, as follows: 1.This Order may be cited as the Consular Fees (Amendment) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 1st December 2005. 2.Article 2 of the Consular Fees Order 2005 [2] shall be amended by inserting, before the definition of "Crown Dependencies", the following—
3.The Schedule to the Consular Fees Order 2005 shall be amended as follows—
(b) for applications made in person
12A.For applications made abroad, issuing a passport of not more than 32 pages which includes replacing an expired passport and issuing a new passport of full validity when an original passport of restricted validity is unavailable—
(b) in the case that the passport issued is a biometric passport and
13A.For applications made abroad, issuing a passport of 48 pages which includes replacing an expired passport and issuing a new passport of full validity when an original passport of restricted validity is unavailable—
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Consular Fees Order 2005. The Order increases the fees for (i) issuing passports of not more than 32 pages in the United Kingdom, and (ii) issuing 48 page passports in the United Kingdom. The fees for issuing passports are increased both in respect of applications made by post in the United Kingdom and applications made in person in the United Kingdom. The Order also introduces a definition of a "biometric passport" and fees for biometric passport services. The fee for issuing a biometric passport in the United Kingdom is the same as the fee for issuing a non-biometric passport in the United Kingdom. The fee for issuing a biometric passport of not more than 32 pages where the application is made abroad is £59.00 for an applicant who is under 16 years and £91.00 for an applicant who is 16 years or over. The fee for issuing a 48 page biometric passport where the application is made abroad is £109.00. The fee for amending or extending an existing passport where the application is made abroad and the passport is a biometric passport is £75.50.
