The Olympic Lotteries (Declaration that London is to host the 2012 Olympic Games) Order 2005

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 22(2) of the Horserace Betting and Olympic Lottery Act 2004[1], hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
    1.This Order may be cited as the Olympic Lotteries (Declaration that London is to host the 2012 Olympic Games) Order 2005 and shall come into force immediately after being laid before Parliament on 7th July 2005.

Declaration
    2.It is hereby declared that on 6th July 2005 the International Olympic Committee elected London as the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order declares that London has been elected as the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games. This declaration enables Olympic Lottery games to be promoted if licensed in accordance with section 6 of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 and section 21 of the Horserace Betting and Olympic Lottery Act 2004 ("the Act"). When this Order has been made section 29 of the Act, which creates the Olympic Lottery Distributor, may be brought into force.
