The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1.This Order may be cited as the A4 London to Bristol Trunk Road (Colnbrook Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 17th December 2004. 2.In this Order -
(ii) "the trunk road" means the A4 London to Bristol Trunk Road (A4) 3.The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Slough Borough Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road. The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated from its junction with the M4 at Junction 5 to the boundary between the Borough of Slough and the London Borough of Hillingdon (this includes the Junction 5 Roundabout but not the underpass that joins Brands Hill and Langley) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan folio numbered HA 10/OD/399 marked "The A4 London to Bristol Trunk Road (Colnbrook Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2004" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
