The Firearms (Removal to Northern Ireland) (Revocation) Order 2003

 Coming into force1st January 2004 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Firearms Act 1968[1], hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
    1.This Order may be cited as the Firearms (Removal to Northern Ireland) (Revocation) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st January 2004.

Revocation
    2.The Firearms (Removal to Northern Ireland) Order 1990[2] is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order revokes with effect from 1st January 2004 the Firearms (Removal to Northern Ireland) Order 1990 with the result that the removal of firearms or ammunition, to which section 1 of the Firearms Act 1968 applies, from Great Britain to Northern Ireland no longer requires the prior approval of the chief officer of police for the area from which they are to be removed and the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
