The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him [2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1.This Order may be cited as the A59 Trunk Road (Preston-Skipton) (Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2004. 2.In this Order -
(ii) "the trunk road" means the Preston-Skipton Trunk Road (A59) 3.The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which this order comes into force. The length of the trunk road ceasing to be trunk road is situated between Brockholes Bridge, west of the M6 motorway at junction 31, and the junction with the A65/A629 west of Skipton and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA 10/OD/371, marked "The A59 Trunk Road (Preston-Skipton) (Detrunking) Order 2003" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, and deposited at the DfT Records Management Branch, Ashdown House, St. Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
