In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 83(2) of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000[1], the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order: 1.This Order may be cited as the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (Commencement No.3) Order 2003. 2.The following provisions of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 shall come into force on 5th January 2004:
(b) section 57(2)(b); (c) section 58(1)(g), (h) and (j); (d) sections 65(5)(c) and (8)(b); and (e) section 68(7)(g) and (h).
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 5th January 2004, Chapter II of Part I (sections 21 to 25) of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 which relate to the acquisition and disclosure of communications data. It also commences those parts of Part IV of the Act which relate to the scrutiny of the powers in Chapter II of Part I. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 have been brought into force by commencement orders before the date of this Order.
