The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980 [1] and now vested in him [2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1.This Order may be cited as the A47 Trunk Road (Thorney Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 5th November 2003. 2.In this Order -
(ii) "the new trunk road" means the new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct referred to in article 2 of the A47 Trunk Road (Thorney Bypass) Order 2003[3]; (iii) "the trunk road" means the A47 Trunk Road. 3.The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Peterborough City Council that the new trunk road is open for traffic. The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the starting and termination points of the route of the new trunk road 40 metres east of the junction of the trunk road with the vehicular access to Hightrees Farm at Thorney in the City of Peterborough and 212 metres east of the junction of the trunk road with the B1167 New Cut and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered HA 10/OD/384, marked "The A47 Trunk Road (Thorney Bypass) (Detrunking) Order 2003 " signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, ODPM-DfT Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
