In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by sections 218(1)(a), (2), (2A), 232(5) and (6) of the Education Reform Act 1988[1] and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales[2], and having consulted with the General Teaching Council for Wales in accordance with section 218(2AA)[3], the National Assembly for Wales makes the following regulations: Name, commencement and application 1.- (1) These Regulations are called the Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (Amendment No. 2) (Wales) Regulations 2003 and come into force on 25th September 2003. (2) These regulations apply in relation to Wales. Amendment of the Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (Wales) Regulations 1999 2.- (1) The Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (Wales) Regulations 1999[4] are amended as follows. (2) In Part I of Schedule 3 -
(b) in paragraph 2(2) insert after the words "this paragraph" the words "and paragraph 2A"; and (c) insert the following paragraph after paragraph 2 -
(b) has successfully completed a course of initial training for teachers at an institution accredited for the purposes of the Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (England) Regulations 1999[5], which course commenced before 1st August 2003; and (c) has undertaken any period of practical teaching experience for the purposes of that course of initial training for teachers wholly or mainly in a school, an independent school or other institution (except a pupil referral unit) in Wales.".
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations amend the Education (Teachers' Qualifications and Health Standards) (Wales) Regulations 1999 so as to add to the categories of persons who may be qualified teachers a person -
