The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 46A of the Marriage Act 1949[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following regulations - Citation, commencement and interpretation 1. - (1) These regulations may be cited as the Marriages (Approved Premises) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 31st July 2003. (2) In these regulations, "the principal Regulations" means the Marriages (Approved Premises) Regulations 1995[2]. Amendment of regulation 7 of the principal Regulations 2. - (1) In regulation 7(1) of the principal Regulations (expiry and renewal of approval) replace "paragraph (5)" with "paragraphs (5) and (6)". (2) In regulation 7(3) of the principal Regulations delete "less than six months nor". (3) After regulation 7(5) of the principal Regulations, insert the following -
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These regulations amend the Marriages (Approved Premises) Regulations 1995 to permit an application for the renewal of approval of premises for the solemnization of marriages at any time during the last twelve months of the approval and within a month of the expiry of the previous approval. In the latter case the expired approval is reinstated until the application is either determined or withdrawn. These regulations impose no costs on business. Notes: [1] 1949 c. 76.
