The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 22(1) and (2) and 22A(1) and (2) of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985[1], hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and commencement 1.These Regulations may be cited as the Prosecution of Offences (Youth Courts Time Limits) (Revocation and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 22nd April 2003. Revocation of regulations and transitional provision 2. - (1) The Prosecution of Offences (Youth Courts Time Limits) Regulations 1999[2] ("the 1999 Regulations") are hereby revoked. (2) Where a maximum period imposed by the 1999 Regulations began before 22nd April 2003 and would, apart from the revocation of the 1999 Regulations, end on or after that date, that maximum period shall continue to have effect as if the 1999 Regulations had not been revoked. Charles Falconer Minister of State Home Office 26th March 2003 (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations revoke the Prosecution of Offences (Youth Courts Time Limits) Regulations 1999 which provide for maximum periods in relation to proceedings in youth courts. Accordingly, there will be no maximum periods in proceedings in youth courts. Any maximum periods which have already begun will continue to have effect as if the regulations had not been revoked.
