The First Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 1(5) and (6) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970[1], hereby makes the following Order: Citation, commencement and extent 1.This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) (England) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 21st March 2003. Designation as a public body 2.Each of the following bodies, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State, to be exercising a function of a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970, in its application to England[2]:
Restrictions on agreements - Swaythling Parochial Church Council
(b) that any such agreements are made in connection with the provision of services in the area of Hampshire County Council. Restrictions on agreements - York Museums and Gallery Trust
(b) that any such agreements are entered into during a period in respect of which it is in receipt of a grant from the City of York Council; and (c) that any agreements are made in connection with the provision of museums, galleries and educational facilities in the area of the City of York Council. Restrictions on agreements - South Lakeland Leisure
(b) that any such agreements are entered into during a period in respect of which it is in receipt of a grant from South Lakeland District Council; and (c) that any agreements are made in connection with the provision of recreational facilities in the area of South Lakeland District Council.
(This note is not part of the Order) Article 2 of this Order designates each of the bodies listed as a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 ("the 1970 Act"). The effect of the designation is to allow each of the local authorities concerned to provide goods and services to the bodies listed by way of an agreement for any purposes prescribed by section 1(1) of the 1970 Act. Articles 3, 4 and 5 impose restrictions on the agreements that can be made by each of the bodies respectively by virtue of this Order. Notes: [1] 1970 c. 39.
