The Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plate Suppliers) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2003

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) and (3) of the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001[1], and all other powers enabling in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
    1.These Regulations may be cited as the Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plates Suppliers) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st March 2003.

Amendment
    2.In regulation 7(3) of the Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plate Supplies) (England and Wales) Regulations 2002[2] for "Section 24(3)" there shall be substituted "Section 24(4)".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plate Suppliers) (England and Wales) Regulations 2002 by providing for section 24(4) of the Vehicles Crime Act 2001 to apply to breaches of regulation 7 (keeping of records by registered persons). Section 24(4) provides for persons contravening a provision to which it applies to be guilty of an offence and to be liable to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.
