The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1.This Order may be cited as the A45 Trunk Road (Weedon Road, Upton to the M45/A45 Roundabout, Dunchurch) (Detrunking) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 16th May 2002. 2.In this Order -
(ii) "principal road" as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and (iii) "the trunk road" means the A45 Trunk Road. 3.The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Order comes into force. The Lengths of Trunk Road ceasing to be trunk road are - 1.From a point approximately 265 metres west of the A45 Weedon Road, Upton roundabout (starting point marked "A" on the plan), and continuing in a westerly direction through the District of South Northamptonshire, in the County of Northamptonshire, terminating at a point on the eastern boundary of the M1 Junction 16/A45 roundabout, (but not including the circulatory carriageway), (marked "B" on the plan), a distance of approximately 5 kilometres. 2.From a point on the western boundary of the M1 Junction 16/A45 roundabout, (but not including the circulatory carriageway), (marked "C" on the plan), and continuing in a westerly direction, through the Districts of Daventry and South Northamptonshire, in the County of Northamptonshire, terminating at a point on the eastern boundary of the A45/A425 Long March roundabout, Daventry, (but not including the circulatory carriageway), (marked "D" on the plan), a distance of approximately 10 kilometres. 3.From a point on the northern boundary of the A45 Braunston Road/A425 Leamington Way roundabout, (but not including the circulatory carriageway), (marked "E" on the plan), and continuing through the Districts of Daventry and Rugby in the Counties of Northamptonshire and Warwickshire, terminating at a point on the northern boundary of the M45/A45 roundabout at Dunchurch, (including the circulatory carriageway) (marked "F" on the plan), a distance of approximately 11.3 kilometres.
