The British Nationality Act 1981 (Amendment of Schedule 6) Order 2001

Her Majesty, by virtue of the powers conferred upon Her by section 50(13) of the British Nationality Act 1981[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: - 

Citation and commencement    
1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the British Nationality Act 1981 (Amendment of Schedule 6) Order 2001.

    (2) This Order shall come into force on 4th December 2001.

Amendment of Schedule 6 to British Nationality Act 1981
    2.In Schedule 6 to the British Nationality Act 1981 - 

(a) in the entry relating to the Falkland Islands and Dependencies, omit "and Dependencies", and

(b) after the entry relating to St Helena and Dependencies, insert "South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order updates the list of British dependent territories in Schedule 6 to the British Nationality Act 1981 by making a separate entry for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, which is a territory separate from the Falkland Islands.
