The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10, 12 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: - 1.This Order may be cited as the A428 Trunk Road (Cambourne Development Trunk Road and Slip Roads) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 17th September 2001. 2.The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct -
(b) along the routes described in Schedule 2 to this Order which connect the main new trunk road with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule (the highways along these routes being in this Order referred to as "the slip roads"). shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.
(b) where the highway is not a highway so maintainable and is not maintainable under a special enactment or by reason of tenure, enclosure or prescription, the Secretary of State shall be under no duty to maintain the part in question, until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for the purposes of through traffic.

Wadrup[a] A Divisional Director in the Highways Agency 19th July 2001 The route of the main new trunk road is a route at Cambourne, north-east of Caxton in the County of Cambridgeshire, about 1530 metres in length, starting at a point on the Trunk Road about 575 metres east of its junction with the Road to Elsworth to a point on the Trunk Road about 125 metres east of its junction with Monk Drive. Four routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageway of the main new trunk road with two roundabouts constructed as part of the Cambourne Development (the new trunk roads along these routes being given the reference numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the deposited plan).
