In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 50 and 63(3) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Skills hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation, commencement, application and interpretation 1. - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Teacher Training Hardship Grants) (England) (No.2) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force 1st September 2001. (2) These Regulations shall only apply in relation to England. (3) In these Regulations:
Provision of grant (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations, which apply only in relation to England, authorise the Teacher Training Agency to pay grants to facilitate and encourage the training of teachers to institutions providing such training for the purpose of relieving financial hardship suffered by students undertaking, or proposing to undertake, course of such training (regulation 2). The payment of grant is dependent on any further conditions that the Teacher Training Agency may impose (regulation 3). These Regulations revoke the Education (Teacher Training Hardship Grants) Regulations 2001 (S.I. 2001/1285). Notes: [1] 1986 c. 61; section 50 was amended by section 278(6) of, and paragraph 102 of Schedule 19 to, the Education Act 1993 (c. 35) (which continue in force by virtue of paragraph 65 of Schedule 37 to the Education Act 1996 (c. 56)) and section 13 of the Education Act 1994. (c. 30), and section 63(3) was amended by paragraph 107(a) of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993.
