The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf: 1.This Order may be cited as the A428 Trunk Road (Northampton to East of Bedford) (Detrunking) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 29th June 2001. 2.In this Order -
(ii) "the trunk road" means the A428 Trunk Road. 3.The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Bedfordshire County Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Milton Keynes Unitary Authority that they will become the highway authority responsible for those lengths of road within their respective boundaries. The length of the A428 trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is between the Brackmills Roundabout in the Parish of Great Houghton in the District of Northampton in the County of Northamptonshire to a point 100 metres north west of the A421 Roundabout in the Parish of Renhold in the Borough of Bedford in the County of Bedfordshire and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan folio numbered HA 10/PS/241, marked "The A428 Trunk Road (Northampton to East of Bedford) (Detrunking) Order 2001" signed by authority of the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions and deposited at DETR Records Management Branch, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
