In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 50 and 63(3) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation, commencement and application 1. - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Teacher Training Hardship Grants) (England) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 20th April 2001. (2) These Regulations shall only apply in relation to England. Interpretation 2.In these Regulations -
Grants for teacher training (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations provide for the Teacher Training Agency to make a grant to a person engaged in a post-graduate course of initial teacher training which began before 1st September 2000 if, in the opinion of the Agency, that person is suffering from financial hardship. These Regulations also provide for the Agency to determine further conditions which must be fulfilled in order for a grant to be payable. Notes: [1] 1986 c. 61; section 50 was amended by section 278(6) of, and paragraph 102 of Schedule 19 to, the Education Act 1993 (c. 35) (which continue in force by virtue of paragraph 65 of Schedule 37 to the Education Act 1996 (c. 56)) and section 13 of the Education Act 1994 (c. 30), and section 63(3) was amended by paragraph 107(a) of Schedule 19 to the Education Act 1993.
