The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 431(2) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000[1] ("the Act"), hereby make the following Order: 1.This Order may be cited as the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2001. 2.The day appointed for the coming into force of -
(b) section 432(3) of and Schedule 22 to the Act, for the purpose of repealing the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977[2]; is 30th April 2001. (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 30th April 2001 section 416(1)(c) and, in part, section 432(3) of, and Schedule 22 to, the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 ("the Act"). These provisions repeal the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977. The Order also brings into force on 30th April 2001 section 416(3)(a) of the Act which provides that the Insurance Brokers Registration Council, a body established pursuant to the Insurance Brokers (Registration) Act 1977, ceases to exist. (This note is not part of the Order)
