The Transport Act 2000 (Extinguishment of Loans) (Civil Aviation Authority) Order 2001

Whereas the Secretary of State has given to the Civil Aviation Authority a Direction under section 57 of the Transport Act 2000[1] requiring that Authority to release National Air Traffic Services Limited from liability in respect of debts which that company owes to that Authority and which are specified in that Direction;

    And whereas that Authority has a liability to the Secretary of State in respect of debts corresponding to those specified in that Direction;

    Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 57(5) of the Transport Act 2000 hereby makes the following Order:

    1.This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 2000 (Extinguishment of Loans) (Civil Aviation Authority) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 31st March 2001.

    2.All of the Civil Aviation Authority's liabilities in respect of the principal the loans specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby extinguished.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order extinguishes, on 31st March 2001, all of the Civil Aviation Authority's liabilities in respect of the principal of the loans set out in the Schedule to the Order. The sum of those liabilities is £247,696,842.57.

The loans in question were made to that Authority under section 12 of the Civil Aviation Act 1982 and were paid out of the National Loans Fund.
