The British Railways Board (Reduction of Membership) Order 2001

 Coming into force1st February 2001 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of his powers under section 241(3) of the Transport Act 2000[1], hereby makes the following Order: - 

Citation and interpretation
    1.This Order may be cited as the British Railways Board (Reduction of Membership) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st February 2001.

Membership of the British Railways Board
    2.The membership of the British Railways Board shall consist of a chairman and one or more other persons appointed by the Secretary of State.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


Under section 1(3) of the Transport Act 1962 the British Railways Board must consist of a chairman and not more than fifteen nor less than nine other members. This Order reduces the membership of the British Railways Board to a chairman and one or more other persons appointed by the Secretary of State.
