The Professions Supplementary to Medicine (Registration) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2000

By the Lords of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council

Whereas in pursuance of section 2(3) of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960[1] the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine has made rules entitled "The Registration (Amendment) Rules 2000";

    And whereas such rules shall not come into force until confirmed by Order of the Privy Council;

    Now, therefore, their Lordships, having taken these rules into consideration, are hereby pleased to confirm them as set out in the Schedule to this Order.

This Order may be cited as The Professions Supplementary to Medicine (Registration) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2000 and shall come into force on 1st December 2000.

SCHEDULE

THE PROFESSIONS SUPPLEMENTARY TO MEDICINE



THE REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) RULES 2000


The Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine, in exercise of its powers under section 2 of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960, and after consultation with all the Boards for the time being established under the said Act, hereby makes the following Rules - 

    1.The Rules may be cited as the Registration (Amendment) Rules 2000.

    2.The Registration Rules 1962 (scheduled to the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (Registration Rules) Order of Council 1962[2]) shall be further amended as follows:

      (i) Rule 15 shall be deleted and the following Rule shall be substituted therefor:

        " 15.The registration fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration. With effect from 1st December 2000, the fee shall, subject to Rule 17, be Ј22, except for an application for registration for a period of less than 6 months, for which the fee shall be Ј17.".

      (ii) Rule 19 (iv) shall be deleted and the following Rule shall be substituted therefor:

        " (iv) With effect from 1st December 2000 the retention fee in respect of a year or any part of a year shall, subject to paragraph (iii) above, be Ј22.".

      (iii) Rule 20 shall be deleted and the following Rule shall be substituted therefor:

        " 20.The fee for restoration of a name to the Register shall be Ј22.".



The common seal of the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine was hereunto affixed this

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


The Rules approved by this Order increase, by amounts ranging from approximately 29 per cent to approximately 42 per cent, with effect from 1st December 2000, the registration, retention and restoration fees payable to the Boards established under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960. The fees were last fixed in 1992.
