In exercise of the powers conferred by section 46(4) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order: Citation and Interpretation 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 (Commencement No 7) Order 2000. (2) In this Order "the 1998 Act" means the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998. Provision coming into force 2.Section 15 of the 1998 Act shall come into force on 15th August 2000. Jacqui Smith Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Education and Employment 10th August 2000 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force section 15 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 on 15th August 2000. This section empowers the Secretary of State to make regulations requiring employers of teachers and workers with children and young persons to supply information relating to their dismissal or resignation to the Secretary of State, the General Teaching Council for England or the General Teaching Council for Wales. (This note is not part of the Order) The following provisions of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 have been, or are, brought into force by commencement orders made before the date of this Order.
