The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(2) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 134(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and Commencement 1.These Regulations may be cited as the M62 and M1 Motorways (Lofthouse Link Roads) (Speed Limit) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 12th July 2000. Imposition of speed limit 2. - (1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on any specified link road. (2) Each of the following link roads at the Lofthouse interchange (junction 29 of the M62 Motorway and junction 42 of the M1 Motorway) is a specified link road -
(b) the M1 Motorway southbound to the M62 Motorway westbound link road from a point 340 metres south of the centre point of Thorpe Lower Lane bridge at the Lofthouse interchange, for a distance of 960 metres in a southerly and then in a westerly direction along the link road.
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations impose a speed limit of 50 miles per hour on specified link roads at junction 29 of the M62 Motorway and at junction 42 of the M1 Motorway.
