The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17 and 19 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:- 1.This scheme may be cited as the M62 Motorway (New Junction 8 and Widening Junction 8 to 9) Connecting Roads Scheme 2000[a] and shall come into force on 27th January 2000. 2.In this Scheme: (1) all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway; (2)
(ii) "the Motorway" means the M62 Motorway at Warrington; (iii) "the plan" means the plan titled "The M62 Motorway (New Junction 8 and Widening Junction 8 to 9) Connecting Roads Scheme 2000[b]", signed by authority of The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions deposited at the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, Zone 2/C8, Ashdown House, Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DE; and (iv) "the special roads" means each connecting road. 3.The Secretary of State is authorised to provide the special roads for the exclusive use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of Traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980. The routes of the connecting roads are as follows: (1)Proposed Junction at Burtonwood Road at Kingswood Four routes to connect the Motorway with a new roundabout junction which the Secretary of State proposes to construct on Burtonwood Road where it crosses the existing Motorway at Kingswood (the special roads along these routes being respectively given the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the scheme plan). (2)Junction 9 and A49 (Winwick Interchange) at Winwick Two realigned routes connecting the Motorway with the existing roundabout junction at Winwick (the special roads along these routes being respectively given the numbers 5 and 6 on the scheme plan).
