The Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1999

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, being a Minister designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] for the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles, and of components of vehicles, and in particular any vehicle type approval scheme, in exercise of the powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:-

Citation and commencement
    1. - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 16th September 1999.

    (2) The Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998[3] shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

Amendment of Schedule 1
    2. - (1) The Table in Schedule 1 (separate directives) shall be amended as follows.

    (2) In item 5 (steering equipment) after the last entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

1999/7/EC*

(3) In item 23 (direction indicators) after the last entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

1999/15/EC*

(4) In item 25 (headlamps (including bulbs)) after the last entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

1999/17/EC*

(5) In item 26 (fog lamps (front)) after the existing entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

1999/18/EC*

(6) In item 28 (rear fog lamps) after the last entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

1999/14/EC*

(7) In item 30 (parking lamps) after the existing entry, in the third and fourth columns, there shall be inserted-

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1998 (the "1998 Regulations") by making additions to the list of amending separate Directives listed in Schedule 1 to those Regulations.

Copies of the Directives referred to in these Regulations can be obtained from the Stationery Office.
