In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 356(2)(c) and (5) and 568(5) and (6) of the Education Act 1996[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1.This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Key Stage 1 Assessment Arrangements) (England) (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 16th August 1999. Amendment of Order 2. - (1) The Education (National Curriculum) (Key Stage 1 Assessment Arrangements) (England) Order 1999[2] shall be amended as follows. (2) In article 4(4) (teacher assessment) there shall be substituted for the reference to "section 4(2)(a) and (b)" a reference to "section 356(2)(a) and (b)". (3) There shall be substituted for paragraph (1) of article 7 (further assessment: English and mathematics), the following paragraph-
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Education (National Curriculum) (Key Stage 1 Assessment Arrangements) (England) Order 1999. That Order specifies the assessment arrangements for the core subjects in the final year of the first key stage. The main change is the substitution of new provision with respect to the further assessment of a pupil in English under article 7 of that Order (article 2(3)). Notes: [1] 1996 c. 56.
