In exercise of the power conferred on me by section 101(3) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998[1], I hereby make the following Order:

1.This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1999.

2.Section 74 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 shall come into force on 21st June 1999 for the purpose of making an order under subsections (5) and (6) of that section.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, on 21st June 1999, the enabling powers in section 74 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, under which the Secretary of State may make an order consequent on the transfer of functions to the Equality Commission.
