The Government of Wales Act 1998 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1999

11th January 1999

The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 158 of the Government of Wales Act 1998[1], hereby makes the following Order:

    1.This Order may be cited as the Government of Wales Act 1998 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1999.

    2.The date of 1st February 1999 is appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Government of Wales Act 1998-

Section 111(1). (Welsh Administration Ombudsman).

Schedule 9 Part I and section 111(2) so far as relating thereto. (Welsh Administration Ombudsman - appointment, staff etc.).

Schedule 12 paragraphs 1, 18, 19, 31 and 32, and section 125 so far as relating thereto. (Minor and consequential amendments).

Schedule 18 Part I in respect of the repeal in the Finance Act 1989[2], and section 152 so far as relating thereto. (Repeals - Welsh Administration Ombudsman and Health Service Commissioner for Wales).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 1st February 1999 the following provisions of the Government of Wales Act 1998-

Section 111(1).

Part I of Schedule 9 and section 111(2) so far as relating thereto.

Paragraphs 1, 18, 19, 31 and 32 of Schedule 12 and section 125 so far as relating thereto.

Part I of Schedule 18 in respect of the Finance Act 1989 and section 152 so far as relating thereto.

Provision for the commencement of the following provisions of the Act has previously been made as follows-

    1.By the Government of Wales Act 1998 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/2244)-

2nd September 1998 - sections 130(4) and (5), 132(1) and (6), 133(3) and (4), 136(4) and (5), 138(1) and (6), 139(3) and (4), 140(5) and (6), 142(1), (7) and (8), 143(3) and (4), 150 and Schedule 18 Part VII (including section 152 so far as relating thereto).

1st October 1998 - sections 126 to 129, 130(1) to (3), 131, 132(2) to (5) and (7), 133(1) and (2), 134, 135, 136(1) to (3), 137, 138(2) to (5) and (7), 139(1) and (2), Schedules 13 to 15 and Schedule 18 Parts III to V (including section 152 so far as relating thereto).

1st November 1998 - sections 140(1) to (4), 141, 142(2) to (6), 143(1) and (2), Schedule 16 and Schedule 18 Part VI (including section 152 so far as relating thereto).

    2.By the Government of Wales Act 1998 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/2789), on 1st December 1998-

Parts I and II including Schedules 1 to 4.

Part III so far as commencement had not already been provided for, and including Schedule 5.

Part IV except sections 104 and 105.

Part V except sections 107, 111, 112, 116 to 118 and 125, but including Schedules 8 and 11.

Part VI so far as commencement had not already been provided for, and including Schedule 17.
