The Knives Act 1997 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 1999

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 11(3) of the Knives Act 1997[1], hereby makes the following Order:

    1.This Order may be cited as the Knives Act 1997 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 1999.

    2.Section 8 of the Knives Act 1997 shall come into force on 1st March 1999.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 1st March 1999 section 8 (powers to stop and search for knives or offensive weapons) of the Knives Act 1997. Section 8, which extends to England and Wales and Scotland, is the last provision of the Act to be brought into force.
