Whereas an application for the purpose of establishing an education action zone has been made to the Secretary of State with the consent of the governing bodies of every school which is comprised in this Order. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 10(1) and 138(7) of, and paragraph 2 of Schedule 1 to, the School Standards and Framework Act 1998[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order: Citation and commencement 1.This Order may be cited as the Barnsley Education Action Zone Order 1998 and shall come into force on 1 September 1998. Interpretation 2.In this order-

(b) either one or two persons appointed by the Secretary of State; and (c) one person appointed by each partner, unless any partner chooses not to make such an appointment. 5. - (1) The Forum may at any time appoint-
(b) up to 5 additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the interests of parents of children of compulsory school age residing in the area served by the zone schools; (c) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the interests of community organisations in the area served by the zone schools; and (d) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the interests of businesses in the area served by the zone schools; (e) one additional member who at the time of his appointment is employed by the Forum. (2) A member appointed under paragraph (1)(e) shall cease to hold office if he ceases to be employed by the Forum.
(b) if the bankruptcy order is so annulled, on the date of the annulment. (3) Where a person is disqualified by reason of his having made a composition or arrangement with his creditors and he pays his debts in full, the disqualification shall cease on the date on which the payment is completed and in any other case it shall cease on the expiration of three years from the date on which the terms of the deed of composition or arrangement are fulfilled.
(b) within twenty years before his appointment would otherwise have taken effect, he has been convicted as aforesaid and has had passed on him a sentence of imprisonment for a period of more than two and a half years; or (c) he has at any time been convicted as aforesaid and has had passed on him a sentence of imprisonment of not less than five years. (2) For the purposes of this regulation there shall be disregarded any conviction by or before a court outside the United Kingdom of an offence in respect of conduct which, if it had taken place in any part of the United Kingdom, would not have constituted an offence under the law in force in that part of the United Kingdom. The following persons are "partners" for the purposes of appointing additional members of the Forum: Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Nord Anglia Barnsley College Barnsley & Doncaster TEC Bull Information Systems Ltd Barnsley Health Authority Barnsley and District NHS Trust Barnsley Chamber of Commerce & Industry British Telecommunications plc Link Training Northern College Bretton College Dearne Valley College Sheffield University Sheffield Hallam University Barnsley Business Education Partnership Voluntary Action Barnsley South Yorkshire Probation Barnsley Crime Prevention Partnership The Prince's Trust NSPCC Community Partnerships Workers Educational Association Barnsley Football Club Construction Industry Training Board Birkwood Primary School Brierley CofE Junior and Infant School Burton Grange Nursery School Burton Road Primary School Crevesford School Cudworth Birkwood Primary School Cudworth Churchfield Primary School Cudworth Pontefract Road Primary School Grange Gate Junior School Grimethorpe Ladywood Junior and Infant School Hunningley Junior and Infant School Kendray Primary School Littleworth Infant School Worsborough Lobwood Primary School Milefield Primary School Pontefract Road Junior and Infant School Priory School St Helen Junior and Infant School Shafton Junior and Infant School The Elmhirst School Ward Green Primary School Willowgarth High School Worsbrough Bank End Primary School Worsbrough Dale Nursery School Andrew Smith Minister of State, Department for Education and Employment. 10th August 1998 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order establishes the Barnsley Education Action Zone, which comprises the schools listed in the Schedule.
