Whereas it appears to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions that Sheffield City Airport is an airport at which there is a substantial amount of international passenger traffic: And whereas the Secretary of State is satisfied that arrangements have been made for affording reasonable facilities on licensed premises within the examination station approved for that airport under section 22 of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979[1] for obtaining hot and cold beverages other than intoxicating liquor at all times when intoxicating liquor is obtainable on those premises: Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 87 of the Licensing Act 1964[2] and now vested in him[3], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: 1.This Order may be cited as the Sheffield City Airport Licensing (Liquor) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 24th July 1998. 2.Section 87 of the Licensing Act 1964 is hereby brought into operation at Sheffield City Airport. Signed by authority of the Secretary of State Glenda Jackson Parliamentary Under Secretary of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions 20th July 1998 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force section 87 of the Licensing Act 1964 in relation to Sheffield City Airport. This has the effect of disapplying section 59 of that Act (the prohibition of sale etc. of intoxicating liquors outside permitted hours) to licensed premises which are within the examination station approved for the airport under section 22 of the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.
