The Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings General (Amendment) Directions 1998

 Coming into force1st April 1998 

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred by section 65(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby give the following Directions:

Citation and commencement
    1.These Directions may be cited as the Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings General (Amendment) Directions 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

Amendment of the Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings General Directions 1997
    2.In direction 8(3) of the Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings General Directions 1997[2], after the word "grey," there shall be inserted "black,".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the General Directions)


These Directions amend direction 8(3) of the Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings General Directions 1997 so that, where vehicular light signals, pedestrian light signals, an indicator for pedestrians or a pedestrian demand unit at a crossing is mounted on a post specially provided for the purpose, the colour black is added to the colours available for that part of the post extending above ground level.
