The Road Vehicles Registration Fee Regulations 1998

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 21(3) and 57 of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994[1] and by virtue of the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988[2], hereby makes the following Regulations: - 

Citation and commencement
    1.These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles Registration Fee Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 1th April 1998.

Fee for registration of a mechanically propelled vehicle
    2. - (1) A vehicle, which is note a vehicle falling within paragraph (2) below, shall not be registered under section 22 of the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 unless a fee of Ј25 has been paid to the Secretary of State.

    (2) Paragraph (1) does not apply to a vehicle which is an exempt vehicle by virtue of paragraph 18 or 19 of Schedule 2 to that Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations provide that a vehicle must not be registered under Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 unless a fee of Ј25 is paid. Certain vehicles for disabled persons are exempt.
