EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order specifies museums and similar institutions which are registered with the Museums and Galleries Commission for the purpose of making them eligible for a museum firearms licence under the Schedule to the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988. Such a licence exempts a museum or similar institution from the need to hold a firearm certificate and an authority from the Secretary of State in respect of firearms which form part of its collection.
