The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 57(2) of the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997[1], hereby makes the following Order: 1.This Order may be cited as the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 (Commencement) (No. 1) Order 1997. 2.Paragraphs 14 and 19 of Schedule 1 to the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 shall come into force on 25th June 1997. Joyce Quinn Minister of State Home Office 23rd June 1997 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings into force on 25th June 1997 paragraphs 14 and 19 of Schedule 1 to the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997. Paragraph 19 enables Her Majesty by Order in Council to direct that Schedule 1 to that Act, relating to the transfer of prisoners within the British Islands, shall extend or apply in relation to the Isle of Man with such modifications, if any, as Her Majesty considers appropriate. Paragraph 14 enables Her Majesty by Order in Council to make such provision in relation to restricted transfers under Part I of that Schedule between any part of the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands, as broadly corresponds to provision already made in Part II of that Schedule in relation to such transfers within the United Kingdom.
