The Secretary of State for Health in exercise of the powers conferred by section 13(3) and (4) of the Social Security Act 1988[1] and section 175(2) to (5) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992[2] and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: - Citation, commencement and interpretation 1. - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Welfare Food (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 7th April 1997. (2) In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Welfare Food Regulations 1996[3]. Amendment of regulation 6 of the principal Regulations 2.In regulation 6(1) of the principal Regulations (inability to obtain free vitamins) for the words "at an office of the Department of Social Security" there shall be substituted the words "to an office of the Department of Social Security in writing". Amendment of regulation 7 of the principal Regulations 3.In regulation 7(1) of the principal Regulations (purchase of dried milk at a reduced price) for "Ј3.65" there shall be substituted "Ј3.75". Stephen Dorrell One of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State, Department of Health 17th March 1997 (This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations amend the Welfare Food Regulations 1996 ("the principal Regula tions"). Regulation 2 amends regulation 6(1) of the principal Regulations to require any application for a payment by a person unable to obtain vitamins because he has not received evidence of his entitlement to a relevant benefit to be made in writing. The regulation thereby corrects an inadvertent omission from the principal Regulations. Regulation 3 amends regulation 7 of the principal Regulations to increase the price payable for dried milk by a person entitled to purchase it at a reduced price, from Ј3.65 to Ј3.75 for 900 grammes per week.
