The Defence Council, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1 of the Injuries in War Compensation Act 1914 (Session 2)[1] and now vested in them[2], make the following Scheme: 1. - (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Injuries in War (Shore Employments) Compensation (Amendment) Scheme 1997. (2) The Injuries in War (Shore Employments) Compensation Schemes 1914 to 1996 and this Scheme may be cited together as the Injuries in War (Shore Employments) Compensation Schemes 1914 to 1997. 2.In paragraph (3) of the Injuries in War (Shore Employments) Compensation Scheme 1914[3], for "Ј105", wherever it appears, there shall be substituted "Ј107.20". 3.This Scheme shall have effect as from 7th April 1997, so, however, that no payment shall be made under it in respect of any period before that date. James Arbuthnot Richard Mottram Members of the Defence Council We consent, Patrick McLoughlin Roger Knapman Two of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury 21st February 1997 (This note is not part of the Scheme) The Injuries in War (Shore Employments) Compensation Schemes 1914 to 1996 provide for the payment of weekly allowances to ex-members of the women's auxiliary forces who suffered disablement from their services overseas during the 1914 to 1918 war. This amending Scheme provides that the maximum weekly allowance shall be increased from Ј105 to Ј107.20. The increase will take effect on 7th April 1997.
