The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 11(1) and (4), 15(1) and (2), 86(1) and 94(1) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Measuring Equipment (Measures of Length) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 4th December 1996.
Amendment of the Measuring Equipment (Measures of Length) Regulations 1986
2. In the definition of "limiting quality level (LQ5)" in paragraph 2 (interpretation) of Schedule 2 to the Measuring Equipment (Measures of Length) Regulations 1986[2], for "95 per cent" there shall be substituted "5 per cent".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)These Regulations amend the definition of "limiting quality level (LQ5)" in paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Measuring Equipment (Measures of Length) Regulations 1986 (S.I 1986/1682), which was inserted by the Measuring Equipment (Measures of Length) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/2636), by substituting a reference to "5 per cent" for the incorrect reference to "95 per cent" in the Schedule as set out in the 1996 Regulations.
