The Offensive Weapons Act 1996 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 4(4) of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996[1], the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1996.
(2) This Order extends to Northern Ireland.
2. Subsections (1) to (3) of section 4 of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 shall come into force on 1st September 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)This Order brings into force on 1st September 1996 subsections (1) to (3) of section 4 of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 which make it an offence to have an article with a blade or point (or offensive weapon) on school premises.
