The Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (Commencement No. 8 and Transitional Provision) Order 1995

    In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 172(2) and (3) of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994[1], the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (Commencement No. 8 and Transitional Provision) Order 1995.
        2.    In this Order any reference to a section or a schedule is a reference to a section of or, as the case may be, a schedule to, the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
        3.    Sections 75 and 76 and paragraph 53 of Schedule 10 (squatters: interim possession orders: power of entry) shall come into force on 24th August 1995.
        4.    Section 45, Schedule 5 and paragraph 65 of Schedule 10 (extension of procedures for guilty pleas) shall come into force on 4th September 1995.
        5.—(1)  Subject to paragraph (2) below, section 89 (video recordings: restriction of exemptions) shall come into force on 1st November 1995.

        (2)  Paragraph (1) above does not apply in relation to a video work of which a video recording has been supplied or offered for supply prior to 1st November 1995.

        (3)  In this article "video work" and "video recording" have the same meanings as in the Video Recordings Act 1984[2].

    This Order brings into force the provisions of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 referred to in articles 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the dates specified respectively in those articles in respect of those provisions. Article 5 also contains a transitional provision.
