The Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) (Amendment) Order 1995

Coming into force17th May 1995 At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 17th day of May 1995 Present, The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with section 1(4) of the Hovercraft Act 1968[1];
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(1)(h) and (3) of the said Act[2] and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) (Amendment) Order 1995 and shall come into force forthwith.
        2.—(1)  The Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) Order 1972[3] shall be amended as follows.

        (2)  Article 7 shall be omitted.

        (3)  In article 8—
       (a) in sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (1), for "544 to 571" there shall be substituted "551 to 571";
       (b) sub-paragraph (c) of the said paragraph shall be omitted;
       (c) for sub-paragraphs (f) and (g) of the said paragraph there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraphs—
          "(f) The Merchant Shipping (Navigational Warnings) Regulations 1980[4];
          (g) The Merchant Shipping (Signals of Distress) Rules 1992[5];"
       (d) paragraph (3) shall be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order further amends the Hovercraft (Application of Enactments) Order 1972.
    Article 2(2) revokes article 7 of the 1972 Order in consequence of superseding provision contained in the Insurance Companies Act 1982 (c. 50).
