The Education (Grant-maintained Special Schools) (No. 2) Regulations 1994

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by paragraph 14 of Schedule 11 to the Education Act 1993[1], the Secretary of State for Education as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, hereby make the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grant-maintained Special Schools) (No. 2) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force on 21st September 1994.
Application of section 12 of the Education Act 1994
2. Section 12 of the Education Act 1994[2] shall have effect in relation to the governing bodies of grant-maintained special schools as it has effect in relation to the governing bodies of grant-maintained schools.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)These Regulations apply section 12 of the Education Act 1994 (power of schools to provide courses of initial teacher training) to the governing bodies of grant-maintained special schools.

Chapter VI of Part II of the Education Act 1993 (funding of grant-maintained schools) mentioned in section 12(6)(b) of this Act was applied (with modifications) to grant-maintained special schools by regulation 23 of the Education (Grant-maintained Special Schools) Regulations 1994 (S.I. 1994/653, amended by S.I. 1994/1231).
