The Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods and Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) (Amendment) Regulations 1994

Whereas the Secretary of State pursuant to section 86(2) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985[1] has consulted organisations appearing to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by these Regulations and has considered the representations made to him by organisations with respect to the subject matter of these Regulations: Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 15(1)(g), 23(1)(a) and (d), 48(1)(a), 48(1A)(ii), 49, 65, 66, 68(1), 68(1A)(a) and 94(1) of the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations: Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods and Quantity Marking and Abbreviations of Units) (Amendment) Regulations 1994 and shall come into force immediately after the coming into force of the Units of Measurement Regulations 1994[2]. Amendment of Regulations in 1994, 1995 and 2000 2.(1) On the coming into force of these Regulations the Regulations specified in Part I of the Schedule to these Regulations shall be amended in the manner specified in that Part.
(2) On 1st October 1995 the Regulations specified in Part II of the Schedule to these Regulations shall be amended in the manner specified in that Part.
(3) On 1st January 2000 the Regulations specified in Part III of the Schedule to these Regulations as amended by paragraph (2) above shall be amended in the manner specified in that Part.

Notes:[1] 1985 c. 72; section 68(1) defines "regulations", sections 48(1A) and 68(1A) have effect by virtue of the modifications to Part V of the Act made by paragraphs 2(b) and 8(b) of Part II of Schedule 3 to the Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods) Regulations 1986 and section 94(1) defines "prescribed".
