The Education (No. 2) Act 1986 (Amendment) Order 1994

    In exercise of the powers conferred by section 30(5) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986[1] the Secretary of State for Education, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, hereby make the following Order:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Education (No. 2) Act 1986 (Amendment) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 1st April 1994.

        (2)  In this Order "the Act" means the Education (No. 2) Act 1986.
    Amendments
        2.    The following amendments shall be made to paragraph (h) of section 30(2) of the Act-
       (a) the word "and" at the end of sub-paragraph (ii) shall be deleted;
       (b) the word "and" shall be inserted at the end of sub-paragraph (iii); and
       (c) after sub-paragraph (iii) there shall be inserted-
          "(iv) stating the total amount of any travelling and subsistence allowances paid to members of the governing body in that period;".
        3.    For section 30(2)(i) of the Act there shall be substituted-
        "(i) to give such information about public examinations and other assessments of pupils' achievements, the continuing education of pupils leaving the school and the employment or training taken up by such pupils as is required to be published by virtue of section 8(5) of the 1980 Act;".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    This Order amends section 30(2)(h) and (i) of the Education (No. 2) Act 1986 by adding items to those which the articles of government for maintained schools must require the governors' annual report to include. The total amount of travelling and subsistence allowances paid to members of the governing body must now be included in the financial statement contained in the annual report (article 2). The report must now give such information about public examinations and other assessments of pupils and the continuing education or employment or training of pupils leaving school as is required to be published by virtue of section 8(5) of the Education Act 1980 (article 3).
