The Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1993

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 2 of the Child Abduction and Custody Act 1985[1], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Child Abduction and Custody (Parties to Conventions) Order 1993. 2.(1) In this Article of, and the Schedule to, this Order, "the Convention" means the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction which was signed at The Hague on 25th October 1980.
(2) (a) The States specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Order shall be Contracting States to the Convention; (b) Where the Convention applies, or applies only, to a particular territory or particular territories specified in a declaration made by a Contracting State under Article 39 or 40 of the Convention, the territory or territories in question shall be as specified in the second column of the Schedule to this Order. (c) The date of the coming into force of the Convention as between the United Kingdom and any State or territory so specified shall be as specified in the third column of the Schedule to this Order.
