EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
By this Order agriculture Ministers specify the year 1993 for the purposes of section 59(1) of the Agriculture Act 1993. That provision requires the Joint Consultative Committee constituted under paragraph 24 of the Potato Marketing Scheme to consider in each year after the year 1993 specified in the Order whether it is desirable to establish a target area, which is to be used for planting potatoes in the following year. If it considers that it is desirable the Joint Consultative Committee is required by section 59(1) of that Act to determine what that target area is.
