The Maintenance Orders (Backdating) Order 1993

    The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 58(7) of the Child Support Act 1991[1], hereby makes the following Order:—
    Citation and Commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Maintenance Orders (Backdating) Order 1993 and shall come into force on 5th April 1993.
    Backdating of certain court orders
        2.    The amendments set out in Schedule 1 to this Order (which extend the powers of courts to backdate certain orders in circumstances relating to the operation of the Child Support Act 1991) shall have effect.
    Definition of family proceedings
        3.    The amendments in Schedule 2 to this Order (which extend the definition of family proceedings to certain proceedings under the Child Support Act 1991) shall have effect.
